Our team at Emerge Ag Solutions thought it would be fitting to get in on the fun and run our own event.  This spring there are going to be more red lentils seeded than ever before. Thus, we are absolutely thrilled to introduce our Lord of the Lentil competition.

This challenge allows producers to use any management strategy they see fit to obtain the highest lentil yield possible. It is intended to be a friendly competition among participants and a way to try new technologies and chemistries to see if they will perform in our area.

From competition comes innovation. We want to challenge the local growers to test and experiment with the latest products, management practices and strategies in an attempt to achieve the highest lentil yields possible.

Our goal is to set up a program to demonstrate to growers what their land is capable of. As we move forward, there are so many new management practices and technologies a farmer can implement to push the yield higher.

Some of the strategies encouraged include the use of the latest in seed genetics, seed treatments, seed primers, advanced fertility, micronutrients, high-performing crop protection products, foliar nutrition, plant stimulators, fungicides, desiccants, enhanced technologies, and agronomic consulting.

While we are here to offer the growers advice, it is up to them to choose how to manage the crop, when and how to harvest it, and which area of the field to measure to showcase their efforts.

The winner will be awarded the GRAND PRIZE of a 1-year lease of a 2016 GMC double cab pickup truck.

This competition is about innovation and using technologies to push yields to new levels, and what greater time to roll out this event than the 2016 International Year of Pulses.
